Birding Northern Costa Rica

LAHONTAN AUDUBON SOCIETY Presents

In partnership with Crescentia Expeditions is honored to host a new special birding trip focused on the spectacular birds of Northern Costa Rica !

Join us and help support LAS programs and 2 local conservation groups
- Tortuguero N.P. Caribbean coast rainforest
- Sarapiqui Rainforest & La Selva Biological Station
- Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge wetlands
- Tenorio Volcano eastern foothills
- Pacific dry forest & mangrove estuary

This tour is designed for birders with some level of experience seeking to expand their knowledge about neotropical birds.

​The trip includes all lodging, all meals, professional birding guide, private a/c coach, entrance fees, printed checklist, purified drinking water, donations & gratuities.

Day 1: Hotel Bougainvillea (Central Valley)
Days 2-3: Evergreen Lodge (Caribbean coast rainforest)
Days 4-5: La Selva Biological Station (Sarapiqui lowland rainforests)
Days 6-7: Cano Negro Lodge (Northern wetlands)
Days 8-9: Heliconia Lodge (Eastern rainforest foothills)
Day 10: La Ensenada Lodge (Pacific dry forest & mangroves)
Day 11: Hotel Robledal (Central Valley)
Day 12: Returning flights

Highlight species

Endangered Great Green Macaw, endemic Mangrove Hummingbird, also see regional endemics like Nicaraguan Seed-Finch, Snowy Cotinga, Yellow-crowned Euphonia, Nicaraguan Grackle, and other specialties such as Tody Motmot, Green-and-rufous Kingfisher, Agami Heron, Sungrebe, Chestnut-colored Woodpecker, Black-crested Coquette, etc.
