Project and Committee Descriptions
Shorebird Surveys - training, studying, planning, and conducting surveys for Lahontan Valley Wetland Shorebird Surveys
Pinyon Jay Surveys - training, studying, planning, and conducting surveys for the Pinyon Jay Community Science Project
Communications - Updating the website or social media, writing articles for The Pelican, sending bi-weekly email blasts, attending committee meetings, etc.
Conservation - Writing and reviewing advocacy letters and public comments on conservation issues, writing conservation alerts, attending committee meetings, etc.
Education - Planning education programs, presenting for school groups and school field trips, tabling at local events, presenting to special interest groups or the public, attending committee meetings, etc.
Field Trips - Planning, scouting, and leading field trips, attending committee meetings, etc.
Work Projects - Projects that enhance wildlife habitat, such as planting of bird/pollinator gardens and park clean-ups
Fundraising/Membership - Recruiting and maintaining donors and members, Fall Fund Drive, donor thank you's, attending committee meetings, etc.
Programs & Activities - Planning and presenting at monthly membership meetings, hosting membership meetings, etc.
Area Birding Guides – Visiting and writing up descriptions of local birding hotspots and how to get there. Take or obtain photographs of the area & birds commonly seen there.
