Join LAS volunteer, Ben Sonnenberg, at the Galena Creek Visitor Center to learn about the species of finch that inhabit the Sierra Nevada, including Pine and Evening grosbeaks, Red crossbills, and Cassin’s finches, to name but a few! We will be discussing not only their identification via sight and sound but their diverse and remarkable ecology. These tough birds are known for their wanderings, unique vocalizations, and ability to not only survive but often reproduce in cold winter temperatures.
No registration required. The talk will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday 9/17.
If you enjoy birds or birding, or want to learn more about birding or about conservation, this is the place to be!
Lahontan Audubon Society Mission Statement: To preserve and improve the remaining habitat of birds and other wildlife, restore historical habitat, and educate people, especially children, about birds in our unique Nevada environments.
