Free Vulture Talk!
Where: Galena Creek Visitor Center When: Saturday, October 21, 2023 Time: 10:00 - 11:00 am Some say they are ugly - a face only a mother could love, some say they are beautiful. Whether you love them or hate them they are indispensable for our ecosystems. Vultures are the “clean-up” crew, removing dead animals from the environment before they can contaminate the surrounding habitats. Join Alan Gubanich, long-time member of the Lahontan Audubon Society, for a look at the life and habits of our native Turkey Vultures and their cousins, the Black Vultures. And if there is time, Alan might also discuss other vultures from around the world. Photo taken earlier this year, Turkey Vulture near Winnemucca Pass Road, by Diane Wong-Kone |
