Our May Bird of the Month is the Black-chinned Hummingbird. Black-chinned Hummingbirds commonly migrate up to the Northern Nevada Region during breeding season. The male birds are easily recognized with their dark iridescent patch of feathers on their neck ("chin"). Black-chinned Hummingbirds can be seen in our area this time of year, especially within forested parks, such as Davis Creek Regional Park or Oxbow Nature Study Area.
